Carrying the message of science coupled with work in the fields of media, and affirming the department's commitment to preparing generations and competencies distinguished by generosity and creativity in the fields of professional journalism specialisations, enriching innovative scientific research supported by postgraduate programmes, contributing to community service with the highest quality standards, and developing knowledge, research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of traditional and electronic journalism.

Objectives:

1) Achieving quality and excellence in performance, so that graduates of the department are able to practise their profession with a high level of professionalism.

2) Meeting the requirements of the labour market and supporting it with competencies capable of understanding their role in addressing local community issues and spreading a culture of developmental media that aims to promote intellectual and awareness advancement, while taking into account the ethical and religious aspects related to the values of Muslim society.

3) Ensuring academic and research freedom committed to the values, ethics and traditions of Islamic society, and contributing to the revitalisation of scientific research related to the priorities and development of society through bachelor's degree graduation projects and the preparation of master's theses.

4) Establishing communication between the department, society and media institutions by holding seminars, lectures and discussion panels on media issues.

5) Establishing constructive and effective channels of communication with corresponding higher education institutions, both internally and externally, in order to keep pace with developments in the field of the new communications and information technology revolution.

Training staff working in media and public relations offices in ministries and affiliated departments who have experience in managing media departments and monitoring and following up on news.

Providing private research institutions with expertise and experience in audience studies and public opinion polls for humanitarian and media research.

Supporting media organisations with expertise capable of conducting high-quality investigative journalism.
