Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the College of Media
The College of Media at the Iraqi University was established to be a source of support for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to Iraqi society by providing it with renewable energy from undergraduate and postgraduate graduates in various engineering disciplines.Vision:
The College of Media at the Iraqi University aspires to be a distinguished center of excellence in media education and scientific research at both the local and regional levels, by preparing media professionals who possess critical thinking skills and digital creativity, while adhering to high ethical and professional values.
The message:
Working to raise the level of media performance through a stimulating educational environment based on international quality standards, and employing modern technology to serve the issues of society, in order to ensure the preparation of graduates capable of keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the world of communication and public opinion formation with responsibility and objectivity.
Objectives:
The college's objectives revolve around the following strategic points:
- Preparing competencies: Qualifying graduates specializing in the fields of (journalism, radio and television, public relations) who possess theoretical and practical skills.
- Scientific research: Encouraging media studies and research that address the problems of Iraqi society and contribute to the development of media policies.
- Keeping up with technology: Training students to use the latest digital technologies, interactive platforms and artificial intelligence in media work.
- Social responsibility: To enhance the role of media in promoting a culture of tolerance, national unity, and community awareness. Professional partnerships: To build bridges of cooperation with media institutions (channels, newspapers, agencies) to provide field training opportunities for students. Professional ethics: To instill in students the values of integrity, objectivity, and accuracy in reporting information to reduce the spread of fake news and misinformation.
Current academic departments in the college:
- Department of Journalism: It focuses on the arts of editing, investigations, and electronic journalism.
- The Radio and Television Journalism Department: It deals with preparation, presentation, directing, and technical operations.
- Public Relations Department: It is concerned with managing the public image of institutions and the art of communicating with the public.
